Santa Cruz Breakers FC is excited to kick off its 2nd year of participation in the USL League Two (formerly PDL) with its home opener this Friday, May 3rd, 8:00 pm at Santa Cruz High Stadium.

Breakers FC is the only club on the Central Coast that brings pre-professional soccer to our community, and showcases the next generation of professional soccer players.  "League Two has proven to be an important stepping-stone for top professionals now playing throughout the world, with more than 70 percent of all selections in the MLS SuperDraft since 2010 having PDL experience, including 66 selections in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft."                                                                                                                                  - USL League Two

Breakers FC will play a total of 14 matches, with 7 home games during the regular season, and is playing in one of the strongest divisions in the league against teams such as FC Golden State Force, San Francisco Glens, Ventura Fusion and Orange County SC who also have a professional team in the USL Championship League.  We are proud to welcome back Head Coach Mike Runeare and Assistant Coach Aaron Mamula for this season.

Santa Cruz Breakers FC has been competing in USL League Two  in the Southwest Conference since last year.  The team had a strong inaugural season and is looking forward to topping last year's performance by qualifying for playoffs.  Santa Cruz Breakers FC is a direct pathway for talented players, such as our Academy alumni and current Academy players aspiring to play professionally at the MLS level.  We embody the motto of our league: #Path2Pro. 

ABOUT USL LEAGUE TWO
The proven developmental leader in North American soccer's evolving tiered structure, USL League Two (formerly the PDL) features 74 franchises in four conferences throughout the United States and Canada, including 18 clubs that are owned and operated by a professional club, or that hold a partnership with a professional club. League Two has proven to be an important stepping-stone for top professionals now playing throughout the world, with more than 70 percent of all selections in the MLS SuperDraft since 2010 having PDL experience, including 66 selections in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft.

The League Two season consists of 14 regular season matches for each team, seven home and seven away, and provides elite collegiate players the opportunity to taste a higher level of competition while maintaining their eligibility. In addition to league play, League Two teams compete in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as various exhibitions.
