U15, U17 and U19 faced Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers in first away trip of the season

This past weekend your Breakers FC traveled to the Pacific North West to take on the Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers. On Saturday , October 27th we took on the Sounders and the Breakers found it tough to get their attack going in all age groups. The U19’s had a hard fought 1-0 loss pushing the Sounders all the way to the final whistle. On Sunday , October 28th the teams traveled to Portland to face the Portland Timbers. After a tough Saturday the teams bounced back well against another MLS academy with the U15’s coming away with 3 points , earning an impressive 2-1 victory.

This weekends highlighted team of the week was the U15 academy team. On Sunday they preformed very well against the MLS academy opponent the Portland Timbers. After scoring a first half goal through Defender and Captain Luis Velazquez the team looked very comfortable, creating several more chances. As the remaining time in the second half counted down the Timbers made a push and equalized with a 75th minute penalty. The Breakers answered just five minutes later to take a well deserved lead through a deflected shot from forward Mark Gonzalez. The team showed great character after losing Saturday to bounce back and get the win.

In the coaches corner U15 Head Coach Ramiro Corrales had this to say about their performance Sunday afternoon, ”Awesome win! Very pleased with the boys and the way they responded after Portland tied the game. They could have collapsed mentally but responded well and showed a lot of character to push for the win.  Very proud of the group!”.

This weekend the academies face Silicon Valley Soccer Academy at the Cabrillo College Stadium on Sunday , November 4th. Game times are at 10:00am , 12:00pm , and 2:00pm with the U15’s starting the day off and the U19’s finishing it off. See you there!
